Frequently Asked Questions

That depends entirely on you—your needs, your goals, and what feels most important to explore. Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, and it doesn’t have to follow any clichés you might be worried about. My approach is accessible, flexible, and tailored to fit you.

Therapy is a space where you get to focus entirely on yourself—your thoughts, emotions, and needs—without judgment or outside expectations. It’s a relationship built on trust, where my only goal is your success, health, and happiness. It can be challenging at times because change is challenging, but it should always feel supportive and safe. Think of it as refueling your tank or recharging your battery. It's a two-way street, where I listen, reflect, and help you navigate what matters most to you.

Evidence-based therapy means using approaches that have been researched, tested, and proven to be effective. I don’t just make things up as we go—every technique I use has been shown to work, either through scientific studies, my own experience, or your personal knowledge of what helps you.
-
We begin with a 15 to 20-minute consultation call, where you can share why you're seeking therapy, what you’re hoping to get out of it, and ask me any questions. This helps us determine if we’re a good fit. If we decide to move forward, we schedule an intake session, which is where we go over paperwork and start our work together.
-
The most common schedule is once a week, though some people benefit from twice a week or every other week. I generally recommend no less than every other week to maintain continuity and progress.
-
My practice is primarily virtual; however, in-person sessions may be available at assisted living communities in San Francisco and San Mateo counties.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of therapy that views a person’s internal world as made up of different "parts," like a family. Each part has its own feelings, thoughts, and roles. The goal of IFS is to help people understand and heal these parts by accessing their Self, a core, compassionate, and wise inner presence. Instead of trying to eliminate difficult emotions or behaviors, IFS helps people build relationships with their inner parts to create balance, healing, and Self-leadership.
